Song Lyrics

Postby Geddy » Mon Jun 16, 2003 11:07 pm

I was listening to this song, again, and each time I hear it, as with a lot of the lyrics Neal Peart writes, I just get blown away by some of the meanings, and how they are written. If you want, send along some of your favorite lyrics/poems and see if it raises an eyebrow in others.

RUSH

The Trees

There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas.

The trouble with the maples,
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light.
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made.
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade.

There is trouble in the forest,
And the creatures all have fled,
As the maples scream "Oppression!"
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights.
"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light."
Now there's no more oak oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.
The point of the journey is not to arrive.......

Here is another song that really gets me thinking.

RUSH

Manhattan Project

Imagine a time when it all began
In the dying days of a war
A weapon that would settle the score
Whoever found it first would be sure to do their worst.
They always had before...

Imagine a man where it all began
A scientist pacing the floor
In each nation, always eager to explore
To build the best big stick
To turn the winning trick.
But this was something more...

Chorus
The big bang took and shook the world
Shot down the rising sun
The end was begun and it hit everyone
When the chain reaction was done
The big shots tried to hold it back
Fools tried to wish it away
The hopeful depend on a world without end
Whatever the hopeless may say

Imagine a place where it all began
Gathered from across the land
To work in the secrecy of the desert sand
All of the brightest boys
To play with the biggest toys
More than they bargained for...

Chorus

Imagine a man when it all began
The pilot of "Enola Gay"
Flying out of the shockwave on that August day
All the powers that be, and the course of history,
Would be changed forevermore...
The point of the journey is not to arrive.......

Street Spirit (Fade Out)

Rows of houses all bearing down on me

Chorus
and fade out again and fade out

This machine will, will not communicate
these thoughts and strain I am under
be a world child form a circle before we all
go under

Chorus
and fade out again and fade out

Cracked eggs dead birds
scream as they fight for life
I can fell death can see it's beady eyes
all these things into frution
all these things we'll one day swallow whole

Chorus

ok heres one more

John Lennon - Jealous Guy

I was dreaming of the past.
And my heart was beating fast,
I began to lose control,
I began to lose control,

I didn't mean to hurt you,
I'm sorry that I mad you cry,
I didn't want to hurt you,
I'm just a jealous guy,

I was feeling insecure,
You night not love me any more,

I was shivering inside,
I was shivering inside,

I was trying to catch your eyes,
Thought that you were trying to hide,
I was swallowing my pain,
I was swallowing my pain

I didn't mean to hurt you,
I'm sorry that I mad you cry,
I didn't want to hurt you,
I'm just a jealous guy.

*sigh*
Ok this has to be said...
Gunman you are getting a bit outta hand with your comments, Geddy started this is an actual meaningful thread, something to make ppl stop and think for a bit, then you come along and post something as obnoxious as that? What were you thinking?

Some people in this forum need to realize that just because there is a topic, they do not need to respond to every single one.

So therefore due to the obnoxious and rude content in your post Gunman, it has been edited, if you dont like it, sorry but deal with it.

This is a old roots reggea tune and have no clue what its called or who its by..
its a quality song with an excellent message (its a metaphor .read beyond the words)

Sometimes the road seems long and you can`t keep up the pace
Can`t keep up with the leader`s so get out of the race
Thou you try so hard
Failure is you`r just reward
Here is the lesson you must lern
Play with fire you must get burn

The going is tough ,its gonna get tougher
So if you were in doubt
Its time to get out
And stop runnin ya mout

I know I got a few posts on this topic, but I love his lyrics. He wrote 2 amazing books, and he is the greatest drummer ever to pound on the skins.
I remeber when I first moved to Long Island from New York City, this is how I felt about where I lived and my place in society.

RUSH

Subdivisions

Sprawling on the fringes of the city
In geometric order
An insulated border
In between the bright lights
And the far unlit unknown

Growing up it all seems so one-sided
Opinions all provided
The future pre-decided
Detached and subdivided
In the mass production zone
Nowhere is the dreamer or the misfit so alone

Chorus
(Subdivisions)
In the high school halls
In the shopping malls
Conform or be cast out
(Subdivisions)
In the basement bars
In the backs of cars
Be cool or be cast out
Any escape might help to smooth the unattractive truth
But the suburbs have no charms to soothe the restless dreams of youth

Drawn like moths we drift into the city
The timeless old attraction
Cruising for the action
Lit up like a firefly
Just to feel the living night

Some will sell their dreams for small desires
Or lose the race to rats
Get caught in ticking traps
And start to dream of somewhere
To relax their restless flight
Somewhere out of a memory of lighted streets on quiet nights...

Chorus
The point of the journey is not to arrive.......

ok was trying to think of more songs 4 u geddy so heres another one by Pearl Jam

JERMEY

At home, drawing pictures of mountain tops, with him on top
Lemon yellow sun, arms raised in a V
The dead lay in pools of maroon below

Daddy didn't give attention
To the fact that mommy didn't care
King Jeremy the wicked, oh, ruled his world
Jeremy spoke in class today (2x)

Clearly I remember pickin' on the boy
Seemed a harmless little f***
But we unleashed a lion
Gnashed his teeth and bit the recess lady's breast
How could I forget?
And he hit me with a surprise left
My jaw left hurtin', ooh, dropped wide open
Just like the day, oh, like the day I heard

Daddy didn't give affection
And the boy was something mommy wouldn't wear
King Jeremy the wicked, ruled his world

Jeremy spoke in class today (3x)
Woo (14x)
Try to forget this...try to forget this...
Try to erase this...try to erase this...
From the blackboard...

Jeremy spoke in class today (2x)
Jeremy spoke in, spoke in (2x)
Jeremy spoke in class today
Woo (29x)
Woooooohhh...spoke in, spoke in
Woooooohhh...uh huh, uh huh...

Nicely done.
No matter how many times I listen to that song, I feel for that kid, and it reminds me of some people I knew back in school. There were a few kids who were on the verge of taking out a few people.

Sen... have u ever heard the song? its actually pretty good.. i know it has some bad subjects in it, but hell it wasnt like i posted about some goth band that uses a swear word every 2 seconds... the song itself is only taking the mick. Also, it took me a looooooooong time to get those words from listening to the song over and over again... but if u took the stuff in it offensive i accept and apologise :( ill post a more tasteful song later just for you
Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day...
But give him a fishing rod, and he will lie on a
fishing boat all day drinking beer

One of my absolute favorite songs

Postby Captain Darling » Thu Jun 26, 2003 10:54 pm

And here it his:

Backstreets
words & lyrics by Bruce Springsteen

One soft infested summer
Me and Terry became friends
Trying in vain to breathe
The fire we born in
Catching rides to the outskirts
Tying faith between our teeth
Sleeping in that old abandoned beach house
Getting wasted in the heat
And hiding on the backstreets
Hiding on the backstreets
With a love so hard and filled with defeat
Running for our lives at night on them backstreets

Slow dancing in the dark
On the beach at Stockton’s Wing
Where desperate lovers park
We sat with the last of the Duke Street Kings
Huddled in our cars
Waiting for the bells that ring
In the deep heart of the night
We let lose of everything
To go running on the backstreets
Running on the backstreets
Terry you swore we’d live forever
Taking it on them backstreets together

Endless juke joints and Valentino drag
Where famous dancers scraped the tears
Up off the street dressed down in rags
Running into the darkness
Some hurt bad some really dying
At night sometimes it seemed
You could hear the whole damn city crying
Blame it on the lies that killed us
Blame it on the truth that ran us down
You can blame it all on me Terry
It don’t matter to me now
When the breakdown hit at midnight
There was nothing left to say
But I hated him
And I hated you when you went away

Laying here in the dark
You’re like an angel on my chest
Just another tramp of hearts
Crying tears of faithlessness
Remember all the movies, Terry
We’d go see
Trying to learn to walk like the heroes
We thought we had to be
Well after all this time
To find we’re just like all the rest
Stranded in the park
And forced to confess
To hiding on the backstreets
Hiding on the backstreets
Where we swore forever friends
On the backstreets until the end

Hiding on the backstreets

Everyone should know this one

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell
Blue skies from pain
Can you tell a green field
from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade your heros for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

just a favourite of mine that i lost from the first time my car got broken into but rediscovered thanks to my favourite online store - Kazaa :D

New Model Army - Green and Grey

The time I think most clearly
The time I drift away
Is on the busride that meanders
Up these valleys of green and grey
I get to think about what might have been
And what may yet come true
And I get to pass a rainy mile
Thinking of you

And all the while, all the while
I still hear that call
To the land of gold and poison
That beckons to us all

Nothing changes here very much
I guess you'd say it never will
The pubs are all full on Friday nights
And things get started still
We spent hours last week with Billy boy
Bleeding, yeah queueing in casualty
Staring at those posters we used to laugh at
Never never land, palm trees by the sea

Well there was no need for those guys
To hurt him so bad
When all they had to do
Was knock him down
But no one asks to many questions like that anymore
Since you left this town

CHORUS:
And tomorrow brings another train
Another young brave steals away
But you're the one I remember
From these valleys of green and the grey

You used to talk about winners and losers
All the time - as if that was all there was
As if we were not of the same blood family
As if we live by different laws
Do you owe so much less to these rain swept hills
Than you owe to your good self
Is it true that the world has always got
To be something that always seems
To happen - somewhere else
For God's sake don't you realise that I still hear that call
Do you think you're so brave
Just to go running
To that which beckons to us all

CHORUS:And tomorrow brings another train
Another young brave ...

No, not for one second did you look behind you
As you were walking away
Never once did you wish any of us well
Those who had chosen to stay
And if that's what it takes to make it
In the place that you live today
Then I guess you'll never read these
Letters that I send From the valleys of the green and the grey

Just for info, i am the guy who went to the land of gold and poison but this song takes me back to where i came from and is guaranteed to bring a tear to my cynical eyes <----bonus info for those who scrolled down :D

and i apologise not for resurrecting an old post :P

can't promise that this'll be the last (isn't kazaa lovely :) )

This tune speaks to the alienation we all can feel in a place we call home - i wa always concious of the fact that i had different ideals to those of my peers - this song spoke to me of those feelings

New Model Army - Better Than Them

This is our town, this is Friday night
dressed in our rags and our rage and our best
piercing eyes looking for something,
anything,just anyone..
stare across the floors they begin to dance
missing all the rythms and the chosen right steps
and we laugh and we drink in our corner again
we're better than them... (we're better than them)
we're better than them... (we're better than them)

Divided we were born, divided we live
divided we fall,yeah,divided we die
still we tell ourselves over and over again
we're better than them... (we're better than them)
we're better than them...

With our hunger and our hatred
we all walk this town
with our fear and our weakness
just holding on
with our doubt and our emptyness
and this cold,cold frown
we got to be so important
we'll put the whole damn world down.

And we build the walls that we can hide behind
and our finest weapon is our poisoned pride
here in this town where the jealousies burn
we're watching you... (we're watching you)
and truth is only what we need it to be
to bring us survival through each and every day
where nowhere is safe and nowhere is home
just be cool... (be cool)

And what was she wearing and what did he say
who goes with who and what did they do?
yeah,we tell ourselves over and over again
we're better than them (we're better than them)
we're better than them (we're better than them).......

It was George, my college room-mate that got me interested in NMA and for that i am always grateful (despite your supercillious attitude mate :D - if you ever come across this - heheh)

If u want to class this as spam - go ahead, i care not :P i merely wished to share some tunes that i hold precious and explain a bit of where i'm from.

Not at all m8. I enjoy new music and new ways of looking at life through other peoples eyes.
I am surprised that there are so few posts on this subject.
You ever here something that makes you stop in your tracks just so you can hear the entire thing?
Do you ever get lost in a song for whatever reason, and find yourself lost in it till it is over and you "wake up?"
And this is a biggie for me, because when this happens, it means to me that i have truly been touched emotionally by a song.---> Do you ever hear a song, that just grabs you and lifts the hair on your arms?
That is such an amazing feeling.
Please, if you have meaningful lyrics, copy them here. :D
The point of the journey is not to arrive.......

This one hit me with the thought of bringing my son into this world.
I am not the biggest Creed fan, but this song is one of those goosebump songs.....Even better if you hear it....but this will have to do.

Creed
With Arms Wide Open

Well I just heard the news today
It seems my life is going to change
I closed my eyes, begin to pray
Then tears of joy stream down my face
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Well I don't know if I'm ready
To be the man I have to be
I'll take a breath, take her by my side
We stand in awe, we've created life
With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed
I'll show you love
I'll show you everything
With arms wide open
If I had just one wish
Only one demand
I hope he's not like me
I hope he understands
That he can take this life
And hold it by the hand
And he can greet the world
With arms wide open...
The point of the journey is not to arrive.......

Geddy... you said something about goosebumps, and I am so totally right there with ya whenever I hear that song (Creed - Arms Wide Open) and I believe that the song even is the lead motive for the movie "Titan A.E." which makes it even better, once seen the movie.

Now this is probably gonna startle some of u, since I'm mostly in to heavy metal and techno/trance, and this is nothing like that. This is:

Jewel - Don't

Don't walk too close
Don't breathe so soft
Don't talk so sweet
Don't sing
Don't lay oh so near
Please, don't let me fall in love with you again

Please let me forget
All those sweet smiles
All of the passion
All of the peace, the heat, the pain
All those blue skies
Where your words were my freedom
Please, don't let me fall in love with you again

Too many times
I've cared too much
I stood on the edge
And saw that you held my hand
And knowing too well
I couldn't hide from those eyes
Please, don't let me fall in love with you again

Oh dear.... this song.... oh my... memories....

Rammstein "ICH WILL" translated = "I WANT "

Ich will

Ich will dass ihr mir vertraut
Ich will dass ihr mir glaubt
Ich will eure Blicke spüren
Ich will jeden Herzschlag kontrollieren

Ich will eure Stimmen hören
Ich will die Ruhe stören
Ich will dass ihr mich gut seht
Ich will dass ihr mich versteht

Ich will eure Phantasie
Ich will eure Energie
Ich will eure Hände sehen
Ich will in Beifall untergehen

Seht ihr mich?
Versteht ihr mich?
Fühlt ihr mich?
Hört ihr mich?
Könnt ihr mich hören?
Wir hören dich
Könnt ihr mich sehen?
Wir sehen dich
Könnt ihr mich fühlen?
Wir fühlen dich
Ich versteh euch nicht

Ich will

Wir wollen dass ihr uns vertraut
Wir wollen dass ihr uns alles glaubt
Wir wollen eure Hände sehen
Wir wollen in Beifall untergehen - ja

Könnt ihr mich hören?
Wir hören dich
Könnt ihr mich sehen?
Wir sehen dich
Könnt ihr mich fühlen?
Wir fühlen dich
Ich versteh euch nicht

Könnt ihr uns hören?
Wir hören euch
Könnt ihr uns sehen?
Wir sehen euch
Könnt ihr uns fühlen?
Wir fühlen euch
Wir verstehen euch nicht

Ich will

Evening star struck one, wondering how come....
suddenly becoming completely undone
Just as I looked in your eyes for the first time, I was already in love with you

Aap Jaisa Koi....by Penn Masala :D

Aap Jaisa Koi Meri Zindagi Mein Aaye
To Baat Ban Jaaye, Haan Haan Baat Ban Jaaye ...

Phool Ko Bahaar, Bahaar Ko Chaman
Dil Ko Dil, Badan Ko Badan
Har Kisiko Chahiye Tan Ka Milan
Kash Mujh Par Aisa Dil Aapka Bhi Aaye
To Baat Ban Jaaye ...

Maein Insaan Hoon, Farishta Nahin
Dar Hai Behak, Na Jaun Kahin
Tanha Dil Na Sambhlega Pyar Bina Yeh Tadpega
Aapsa Kahan Hai Dil Aapko Hi Paaye
To Baat Ban Jaaye ...

Dave Matthews Band

Mother/Father

Mother, father please explain to me
Why a world so full of mystery
A place so bitter and still so sweet
So beautiful and yet so full of sad, sad...

Mother, father please explain to me
Why forests march to desert speed
While snowcapped mountains melt away
What do we tell our babies, when do we say, oh

Mother, father please explain to me
How a man who rocks his child to sleep
Pulls the trigger on his brother's heart
He digs a hole right to the middle of this storm of hatred

Mother, father please explain to me
How it could be so this world has come to be
A precious balance in between
Such cruelty and such kindness please

Mother, father please explain to me
How this world has come to be
Unequaled in her blessings, oh, i see
Unbridled hatred so extreme, please tell me

Mother, father please explain to me
How this world has come to be so
Twisted between time and dreams
Oh, mother, father please explain to me
Oh, what's all this talk about?
All this talk about it
Spinning down, down, down, down, down
All this talk about
Endless words without
Nothing's done

Mother, father do you know
Why one man's belly overflows
Another sleeps in hunger's bed
Oh, we trade our world for a piece of bread

Oh mother, father please explain to me
How this rare world's come to be
A place so full of color yet overflowing
Always in black and white
Drowning in the waters of our...

Mother, father please explain to me
How this world has come to be
While still blessed in all the things we see
Such a sad, sad home for you and me

Come out, and hold,
Come on out you
Come on out you
Come and save yourself

Come on out you
Come on we're taking the water
We're taken the water
We're taken the water
But you know
We got the freedom
We got the freedom

There's no god above
And no hell below
Oh, it's here with us
It's up to us
To keep afloat

How this sweet world has come to be
Oh to keep afloat

Mother, father please explain to me
How this rare world has come to be
Oh, let the blue planet
Let the blue planet

Mother, father please explain to me
Mother, father please explain

The line
"Mother, father please explain to me
Why forests march to desert speed
While snowcapped mountains melt away
What do we tell our babies, when do we say, oh "
really gets me to thinking about my 2 kids and what will be left of the world for them when they get older.
K, now I'm depressed.
The point of the journey is not to arrive.......

System of a Down- "Aerials"

Life is a waterfall,
we're one in the river,
and one again after the fall.

Swimming through the void
we hear the word,
we lose ourselves,
but we find it all...

Cause we are the ones that want to play,
always want to go,
but you never want to stay.

And we are the ones that want to choose,
always want to play,
but you never want to lose.

Aerials, in the sky,
when you lose small mind,
you free your life.

Life is a waterfall,
we drink from the river,
then we turn around and put up our walls.

Swimming through the void,
we hear the word,
we lose ourselves,
but we find it all...

Cause we are the ones that want to play,
always want to go,
but you never want to stay.

And we are the ones that want to choose,
always want to play,
but you never want to lose.

Aerials, in the sky,
when you lose small mind,
you free your life.

Aerials, so up high,
when you free your eyes,
eternal prize.

Aerials, in the sky,
when you lose small mind,
you free your life.

Aerials,so up high,
when you free your eyes,
eternal prize.

My wife bought me the Rush "Chronicles" DVD for xmas this past december, she knew that I loved all their songs and I could never find the video for Tom Sawyer, (the one that was recorded on the cabin) I found that lots of the songs on that DVD are recorded at the cabin. And you are right, he is the most amazing drummer I've ever heard in my life, (And I can beat out pretty good myself). I had a feeling that "Geddy" might have been Geddy Lee, I was right :)

:D
You think that was good, Check out their new DVD..http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1332501&skuId=6021388&type=product
The quality is amazing, the set list is 3 hours long and the drum solo, for which you can choose 3 different angles, will blow even a non-fans mind..

Just remember however,
(And I can beat out pretty good myself).

This is a good one that actually means something.

Walk in a corner shop
See a shoplifting cop
See the old lady with a gun
See the hero try 2 run
Nothing's what it seems, I mean
It's not all dirty, but it's not all clean
There's children paying bills
There's monks buying thrills
There's pride for sale in magazines
There's pills for rent 2 make u clean
Marvin Gaye, there's no brother, brother
Woody Guthrie's land can't feed Mother

Mothers weep, children sleep
So much violence ends in silence
It's a shame there's no one 2 blame
For all the pain that life brings
If u will just take me It might just complete me
And together we can make a stand

A waitress brings me lunch
We meet but do not touch
On TV, D.C. is selling lies
While in the corner, King's dream dies
Go 2 the counter, pay for me and my friend
A homeless man pulls out a roll, says it's on him
The mayor has no cash
He said he spent it on hookers and hash

Mothers weep, children sleep
So much violence ends in silence
It's a shame there's no one 2 blame
For all the pain that life brings
If u will just take me It might just complete me
And together we can make a stand

U will love me, I will love u

Mothers weep, children sleep
So much violence ends in silence
It's a shame there's no one 2 blame
For all the pain that life brings
If u will just take me It might just complete me
And together we can make a stand

theres just sooo many tracks with great lyrics .. Was gonna post our old fav Russ Abbot - Atmosphere but decided against it.

so my first offering is a from a track that just makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Not sure if theres meaning in the lyrics but hay ..

Cocteau Twins - Blue Bell Knoll

Each is not my love, moan I for what
I make up hundreds so I know how to make love
There, you can have my youth, I know I have loved
Started to see him, 'till when I married him

To yearn admits you're outside to me
Grow up

I have seen these all my life, perhaps a lot more
And I have been so naive
All move and try he knew not
And your spangle, how it hurts, and I have feelings

To yearn admits you're outside to me
Grow up
(x2)

for those that havent heard the leader singers haunting voice you can check it out for yourself

Listening to that reminded me of

All About Eve - Marthas Harbour

I sit by the harbour
The sea calls to me
I hide in the water
But l need to breathe

You are an ocean wave my love
Crashing at the bow
I am a galley slave my love
If only I would find out the way
To sail you...
Maybe I’ll just stow away...

I’ve been run aground
So sad for a sailor
I felt safe and sound
But needed the danger

You are an ocean wave my love...

ok, cant resist this (again) after reading those meaningless lyrics

RUBETTES - SUGAR BABY LOVE - 18/05/1974
4 weeks at #1 , 10 weeks on chart

Sugar baby love, sugar baby love
I didn't make to make you blue
Sugar baby love, sugar baby love
I didn't mean to hurt you

All lovers make, make the same mistakes, yes they do
Yes, all lovers make, make the same mistakes as me and you

Sugar baby love, sugar baby love
I didn't make to make you blue
Sugar baby love, sugar baby love
I didn't mean to hurt you

People take my advice
If you love someone
Don't think twice

Love you baby love, sugar baby love
Love her anyway, love her everyday

No cursing in the song so anyone can read
the lyrics made me think little about the war and govn't, let me know what you guys think

Strung Out -- Blueprint of the fall

Imagine a place where freedom is just a word on the wall
surrounded by the wreckage of towers that could never fall
company will avenge
imagine the lies like bombs turn to the shock and the awe
for justice in time and a land for justice never was
thief to rule them all
along the potomac and west towards the sea
through the ghettos,
past the monuments,
we all built to house the weak

it's the blueprint to the fall of our place in history
the end to what we all believed
would be the hope to save this place

and i walk among the flagstones thru the graves
an apocalypse is bloomin' in the sage

dead presidents
lined coffin text
in biblical unrest
the blind pride
home genocide
and the secret wars we all missed

it's the blueprint to the fall of the entire human race
the end to what we all believed
would be the hope to save this place
Back to prowlin so keep ur eyes open..or u won't be around to use em.

Nice thread.

For Geddy. I'd like to add, if I may, memories of Rush 'Exit stage left' and the unbelievable 'Professor' on the drums.

For Whatever. Also good call for Pink Floyd's Heaven and Hell. Makes me think of being stoned at 16 (very long time ago.)

I'm at risk of sounding like a line from High Fidelity (great film for musso's) BUT I'm going with Bob Dylan's 'Every Grain of Sand' for top lyrics.

In the time of my confession, in the hour of my deepest need
When the pool of tears beneath my feet flood every newborn seed
There's a dyin' voice within me reaching out somewhere,
Toiling in the danger and in the morals of despair.

Don't have the inclination to look back on any mistake,
Like Cain, I now behold this chain of events that I must break.
In the fury of the moment I can see the Master's hand
In every leaf that trembles, in every grain of sand.

Oh, the flowers of indulgence and the weeds of yesteryear,
Like criminals, they have choked the breath of conscience and good cheer.
The sun beat down upon the steps of time to light the way
To ease the pain of idleness and the memory of decay.

I gaze into the doorway of temptation's angry flame
And every time I pass that way I always hear my name.
Then onward in my journey I come to understand
That every hair is numbered like every grain of sand.

I have gone from rags to riches in the sorrow of the night
In the violence of a summer's dream, in the chill of a wintry light,
In the bitter dance of loneliness fading into space,
In the broken mirror of innocence on each forgotten face.

I hear the ancient footsteps like the motion of the sea
Sometimes I turn, there's someone there, other times it's only me.
I am hanging in the balance of the reality of man
Like every sparrow falling, like every grain of sand.

F.E.A.R Lyrics

For each a road
For everyman a religion
Find everybody and rule
F*** everything and rumble
Forget everything and remember
For everything a reason
Forgive everybody and remember

For each a road
For everyman a religion
Face everybody and rule
F*** everything and rumble
Forget everything and remember
For everything a reason

You got the fear
You got the fear
You got the fear
You got the fear
You got the fear
F.E.A.R. (You got the fear)
F.E.A.R. (You got the fear)
F.E.A.R. (You got the fear)
F.E.A.R. (You got the fear)

Finding eternity arouses reactions
Freeing excellence affects reality
Fallen empires are ruling
Find earth and reap

Fantastic expectations
Amazing revelations
Final execution and resurrection
Free expression as revolution
Finding everything and realizing

You got the fear
You got the fear
You got the fear
You got the fear
You got the fear
F.E.A.R. (You got the fear)
F.E.A.R. (You got the fear)
F.E.A.R. (You got the fear)
F.E.A.R. (You got the fear)

(Fantastic expectations
Amazing revelations
Finding everyone and reuniting
For everything a reason)

F.E.A.R. (You got the fear)
F.E.A.R. (You got the fear)
F.E.A.R. (You got the fear)
F.E.A.R. (You got the fear)
You got the fear
You got the fear
You got the fear
